Dear Church,
Grace and peace to you in the name of the triune God
– Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I write to you from the
mountains of Western North Carolina in the town of
Franklin. In the midst of packing and preparing, I find
myself praying for what is to come. Allow me to
introduce myself as your new pastor.
My name is Emily Robbian, and I will be serving as
your new pastor starting July 1. I grew up in High
Point, NC as a born and bred United Methodist. I
actively and faithful participated in the ministries of
my local church. Since I heavily participated in the
church, I found myself answering a call to ministry at
Pfeiffer University in Stanly County, NC. From there I
was bi-vocational and taught pre-k and served a
church as their youth pastor. In the height of the
pandemic, Duke Divinity School called me to attend as
a Thriving Rural Fellow with the Duke Endowment.
From there, I began my journey of ordained pastoral
ministry.
I have many hobbies. I feel that as I get older, I pick up
new things that bring me so much joy. I love to bake,
crochet, thrift, and read. If you have a favorite book, I
want to read it, a favorite thrift store, take me there.
My year-long crochet project is making a tapestry out
of squares that depict all the books that I have read
this year (my goal is 52). I also enjoy being outside in
creation with my Siberian Husky, Chase. We love
hiking and walking trails, especially when there is
water involved.
I am excited to join alongside you as partners in
ministry in just a couple of weeks. As a church, we
will keep moving, keep making, and keep ministering
to all of God’s people. My hope and prayer is that we
will do good work in the name of Jesus Christ
together.
With Grace,
Pastor Emily
